At the July 18, 2023 Council Meeting Mayor McFarland regretfully accepted the resignation of Councilmember Loudenback effective August 31, 2023. The Mayor and fellow Councilmembers commended Mr. Loudenback on the work he accomplished since his appointment to the Council in 2005 and thanked him for his exemplary service to the citizens of North Bend.
The City is now seeking applicants to fill the vacated Council Position No. 4. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, at least 18 years of age, registered voters and who have lived within the City limits of North Bend for at least one year prior to the date of appointment. The successful applicant will be required to file financial affairs statements with the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission.
Applicants must provide a completed City of North Bend Councilmember Application Form and a resume outlining applicable professional background and community experience. Application forms are available by clicking on the Open City Council Position Application Packet link, or by emailing the City Clerk at soppedal@northbendwa.gov. Completed applications must be received by the City of North Bend by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
The Council will interview all qualified applicants in open session at the November 14th Special City Council Meeting. Following the interviews, the Council will recess into Executive Session to discuss applicant qualifications as authorized by RCW 42.30.110(1)(h). The Council will then reconvene in open session to formally vote on the appointment. The successful applicant will be sworn in by the Mayor and take his/her place on the Council.
Applicants should be aware the appointee will serve until certification of the 2025 General Election in November, 2025. Anyone interested in seeking election to Position No. 4 beyond the appointment period will need to file with King County Elections in Spring of 2025.
