The City of North Bend and the North Bend Planning Commission invite residents to attend an upcoming workshop that will cover the Land Use Element, designations, and zoning in relation to the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update. Join them at the North Bend City Hall on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.
The workshop will include an overview of how land use designations and zoning govern allowable land uses and development, potential amendments to be considered to enable the City to meet state-required housing targets at different affordability levels, and discussion on dockets (requested amendments) that were received during the 2022-2023 docket cycle related to land use designations and zoning.
Look forward to an informal and open opportunity to provide input and participate in discussion with the Planning Commission. Opportunities include:
- Public input, suggesting additional amendments to the City’s land use designations and zoning, as well as other thoughts and suggestions on zoning in North Bend
- Public input on existing Land Use and Housing goals and policies
- Information about how zoning works
The workshop is being held as part of the City’s work in updating its Comprehensive Plan under RCW 36.70A.130. The 2024 update is required for conformance to the Growth Management Act, a series of state statutes, first adopted in 1990, that requires cities and counties to develop a comprehensive plan every 10 years to manage their population growth. The comprehensive plan creates growth management areas within a City for concentrated urban growth.
