Local business donates services to improve trails in North Bend

This winter, local business Rainier Asphalt and Concrete donated time, equipment, and materials to improve multiple pathways in North Bend.

In November 2022, Rainier crews expanded a portion of Tanner Trail which runs parallel to North Bend Way, creating a paved connection to the new roundabout that is located at 436th and North Bend Way.

In March, Rainier crews replaced approximately 2,000 feet across nine locations of damaged asphalt pathways in E.J. Roberts Park.

Citizens are invited to visit these local trails and enjoy the improved connectivity throughout town. Learn about future plans for North Bend parks by reading the Parks Element of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

Rainier Asphalt is no stranger to donating time and supplies to North Bend trails. In 2021, they installed a 400-foot-long paved extension to Tanner Trail with Fury Siteworks, adding conduit for future lighting as well, and a 200-foot trail connection between William H. Taylor Park and Park Street in 2019. Rainier Asphalt owner and North Bend resident, Tom Merry, said the donations are a way to invest in the community he lives in and loves.

Mayor Rob McFarland commented, “I continue to be inspired by the collaborative, community-minded spirit of this local business. The impact of accessibility to our parks and increased connectivity throughout town create lasting impacts that benefit everyone.”

Rainier Asphalt is in its 22nd year of operation and is currently in the process of building its new headquarters on North Bend Way.
