At the February 6, 2024, North Bend City Council meeting, the Torguson Skateboard Park was awarded an International Award of Excellence in Concrete Construction by the American Concrete Institute (ACI). The award was presented to the Si View Metropolitan Parks District and the City of North Bend.
Torguson Skateboard Park received 1st Place in the Decorative Concrete Category. ACI and Grindline Skateparks also attended the January 24 Parks Commission meeting, with Si View Metro Parks Commissioners Susan Kelly and Mark Joselyn in attendance.
“You now have in your community a worldclass skateboard park,” Bruce Chapman of ACI said at the February 6 City Council meeting. He continued, “There was great community involvement, as I understand it, going through the design process, and [Grindline] had a great time working with the community and yourselves in creating a worldclass project.”
Grindline Skateparks designed and constructed the city skateboard park, under management of Si View Metro Parks. This award is an example of the successful, collaborative partnership with our local parks district, which maintains and programs facilities and amenities on city properties such as Torguson Park.
