Prairie restoration, events and more with the Meadowbrook Farm Preservation Association

With a mission to serve as stewards of Meadowbrook Farm Park, the Meadowbrook Farm Preservation Association (MFPA) facilitates the interpretation, education, and appreciation of the rich history of this local, treasured open space. The MFPA develops educational programming and activities relating to Meadowbrook Farm’s human and natural history and ecology, connects individuals with volunteer opportunities on the property, and provides ways to meaningfully engage with other locals interested in caring for this amazing place.  

Free upcoming events

  • WEDNESDAY, FEB 11 (9 AM) – Almost Ground-Hog’s Day Hike: Meet at the Interpretive Center and celebrate spring…or six more weeks of winter…with a walk at Meadowbrook. Peek quietly into hidden meadows to look for elk, enjoy the visiting migratory birds, and look for the earliest signs of new life at the prairie restoration sites, Dress for the weather and wind chill, with books for wet areas.
  • SATURDAY, MAR 7 (9 AM) – Hike to the Big Cedars: Meet at the Interpretive Center and walk through Meadowbrook’s riparian woodlands to see old growth cedar trees over 500 years old. Learn about what an important tree cedar was for Northwest Tribes and early pioneers. Children are welcome, though this walk will not be suitable for strollers
  • SATURDAY, APR 25 (9 AM) – Winter Bird Walk: Join wildlife biologist and birder Harold Erland at the Meadowbrook Farm Interpretive Center to what birds are wintering at Meadowbrook this year. Walk through forest edges and near wetlands to learn new birdsongs and perhaps see new birds. Bring binoculars!
  • WEDNESDAY, MAY 6 (5:30 PM) - Prairie Restoration Site Walking Tour: Meet at the SR 202 elk-viewing pullout area and join the Snoqualmie Tribe’s prairie restoration specialist, Ryan Lewis, to tour prairie restoration test plots on Meadowbrook, now in their second season. What is blooming now? What are the challenges for this project, and how do the Meadowbrook plots compare with those at Three Forks, now in their third year? Learn some interesting new native plants and find out more about this complex long-term effort.
  • WEDNESDAY, MAY 13 (10 AM) – Babies Love Meadowbrook! Meet at the Interpretive Center to join others with babies and toddlers for a leisurely spring walk at Meadowbrook. Packs, strollers and/or walkers are welcome. The route will vary depending on weather, desired terrain and interesting sites. Enjoy the open meadows and woodlands at a pace for exploration.

Families are welcome at these events. Please dress for the weather, with boots for wet areas. These events are weather dependent and will be canceled with heavy wind or rain. Meadowbrook Farm Park is located at 1711 Boalch Avenue. Read the MFPA Winter Newsletter to learn more.
