Parks Element Overview
The Parks Element of the North Bend Comprehensive Plan serves as the master plan for park and trail planning at the City. It includes an inventory of park and trail facilities, establishes levels of service for various facilities, provides policies relating to park and trail planning and development, and contains a 20-year Parks Capital Improvement Program (containing a broad list of projects the City wishes to do), and a more focused 6-year Parks Capital Improvement Plan that prioritizes the top projects from the 20-year Parks CIP for implementation, subject to grants and available funding.
Parks Element Update
The City is currently in the process of conducting an update to the Parks Element. The North Bend Parks Commission will review and provide their recommendation on a draft, followed by Planning Commission review and a joint public hearing before the Planning Commission and Parks Commission before the commissions provide their recommendation to the City Council for approval. The update is being made based on public input regarding what is most important for planning parks and trails, considering input from the City’s Parks Survey, a Public Workshop, and public comment received. The survey was conducted between September 1 and October 1, 2022, and received a total of 537 responses, 81% of which were residents living within City limits.
